The 20 MOST Successful Actor-Director Jodis

These combos have made pots and pots of money together. And then some more!

Actors often combine with their favourite directors to make movies, and some of these combinations are also the most successful.

In this two-part special, we look at actor-director jodies, who have made the most money!

Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty

Easily the most successful pair in Bollywood today, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have been lucky for each other ever since their second film Golmaal.

They have worked in eight films together, and totalled a staggering Rs 472 crores.

Besides their first film together -- Zameen -- and Sunday, the other six releases have been hugely successful.

Now, all eyes are on their next film, Singham Returns.

Films together: Zameen (Rs 15 crores), Golmaal (Rs 26 crores), Sunday (Rs 22 crores), Golmaal Returns (Rs 55 crores), All The Best (Rs 45 crores, Golmaal 3 (Rs 106 crores), Singham (Rs 100 crores), Bol Bachchan (Rs 103 crores).

Katrina Kaif-Kabir Khan

Katrina Kaif has been a regular with director Kabir Khan.

She did well in New York, and then went on to make a blockbuster opposite Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger.

Katrina and Kabir have made business of Rs 244 crores together.

Now, they will be back with Phantom, a film co-starring Saif Ali Khan.

Films together: New York (Rs 45 crores), Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 199 crores).

Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Hirani

Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan made magic with 3 Idiots, and it has become one of the most money-making movies in the history of Indian cinema.

Now, they will be back with PK. Just the film's poster has created a huge buzz!

Shah Rukh Khan-Farah Khan

Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan made films like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, big hits that earned them Rs 122 crores.

They drifted apart due to difference but like the adage goes, nothing is permanent in Bollywood, whether it's friendship or enmity.

Now, the duo will reunite with Happy New Year, later this year.

Films together: Main Hoon Naa (Rs 35 crores), Om Shanti Om (Rs 87 crores).

Bipasha Basu-Vikram Bhatt

When they came together for the first time, Vikram Bhatt and Bipasha Basu gave Raaz, Bollywood's first A-grade horror hit.

Their next couple of films -- like Footpath and Aetbaar -- weren't significant.

They took a long break before returning with Raaz 3, which is their biggest hit together.

They have made a total of Rs 102 crores together.

No wonder, expectations are huge from Creature.

Films together: Raaz (Rs 21 crores), Footpath (Rs 6 crores), Aitbaar (Rs 5 crores), Raaz 3 (Rs 70 crores).

Emraan Hashmi-Kunal Deshmukh

Together, they have their own successful franchise, Jannat. Both installments have worked well, though Tum Mile spoiled the party for a while. The films have made a total of Rs 88 crores.

Now, the pair have decided to give the audience what they want. And that's Raja Natwarlal.

Deepika Padukone-Homi Adajania

When Habib Faisal gave Parineeti Chopra her first ever Bollywood heroine role in Ishaqzaade, audience lapped it up with glee. The film made Rs 48 crores.

Since neither the director nor the actor were bound by the quintessential Bollywood way of working, it was their fresh approach that did wonders for their first film together.

Now, it appears their next film Daawat-e-Ishq is following the same mode.

Shahid Kapoor-Vishal Bhardwaj
