PIX: Sonam Kapoor makes stylish debut at Cannes 2014

The actress and L'Oreal brand ambassador's debut turn on the Cannes 2014 red carpet was eye-catching to say the least .

Arriving amidst more tame silhouettes, colours and hemlines, Sonam Kapoor shook things up a bit on the Cannes red carpet in a magnificent Ellie Saab couture gown on May 18.

The actress was attending the premiere of Tommy Lee Jones-directed film Homesman.

Channeling the ultra feminine old Hollywood glamour style, one of her famously preferred looks that she reserves for international red carpets, the actress teamed her couture gown with red lips and a faux bob. 

The Bewakoofiyaan actress's dramatic , full-skirted gown featured a short train.

Known to promote Indian designers too at Cannes -- last year she wore a sari-jacket designed by Anamika Khanna -- Sonam's next appearance (second of the scheduled six at this year's Cannes) will be in an Indian label.

The actress strikes the classic red carpet 'over the shoulder' pose, perfected by almost every celebrity worth their designer labels around the world.

All said and done though, this homegrown fashionista may have taken things a tad too far in a bid to up the fashion stakes.

Too much drama on the red carpet is bound to get predictable too, no?
