The movie opens in the US on Wednesday.

Singer Katy Perry, who voiced the character of Smurfette, poses with fans at the film's premiere.

The California Girls hit-maker also posed for pictures with fellow pop princess Britney Spears and posted a star-struck tweet after the event.

'OMG!!!!! I CAN'T IM CRYING,' she wrote with a picture.

Cast member Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka cut an adorable family picture at the premiere.

The How I Met Your Mother star recently said in an interview that he enjoyed being around his kids even more now since they are growing up.

Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson had recorded three songs during a six-hour-session at the King of Pop’s home studio in California in the early 1980s.

However, the tracks were shelved after the superstars fell out over when to schedule a follow-up session. Queen band member Brian May has taken permission from the Jackson estate to revive the duets, the Daily Express reported.

May said that working on the tracks has proved to be ‘exciting, challenging, emotionally taxing but cool.’

The trend has shown tracks released after star’s death have gone on to become big hits, four years after Mercury’s died in 1991, his band Queen released his final recordings and out-takes.

The album entered the charts at number one, went quadruple platinum in the UK and sold about 20 million copies worldwide.

Michael Jackson has earned 800 million pounds posthumously. In the year following his death, the superstar sold 24 million albums plus an additional million records by the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons which brought in $250 million.

Publishing rights have helped earned 88 million pounds and TV and DVD projects have helped bag 256 million pounds in the kitty.

American musician and songwriter JJ Cale, whose tracks Cocaine and After Midnight were made famous by Eric Clapton, died on July 26 after he suffered a heart attack, according to the president of his management agency. He was 74.

Mike Kappus, president of the Rosebud Agency, said that fans loved Cale for his completely unpretentious and beautiful music, CNN Music reported.

His other songs include Call Me The Breeze was made famous by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and bands which included the likes of Santana, The Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, and many others covered his songs.

He was the winner of a Grammy for his 2006 album with Clapton, called The Road to Escondido.
