Vattaram: Ready for Diwali

Though there are no films by Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vikram or Vijay this Diwali, the festival will not lose its sparkle.

Of late, small films with lesser-known heroes have begun to fare well at the box office. One such example is Emdan Magan (renamed Em Magan for tax benefits) with Bharath and Nasser in the lead.

Sillunu Oru Kathal, which was released with a lot of hype, failed miserably mainly because of a bad script and shoddy direction.

No wonder then, that Vattaram is an eagerly awaited Diwali release. The film is scripted, directed and produced by Saran, under his production house, Gemini Productions (named after his hugely successful Gemini starring Vikram and Kiran).

It stars the hot Arya, whose Pattiyal was a surprise hit. A lot more is expected from Arya, especially after his signing Bala's Naan Kadavul.

Vattaram is a romantic, action film, the kind Saran is famous for making. The two heroines are Keerat and Adisaya, and actor-turned-politician Napoleon, who has always been portrayed as a baddie with a weapon in his hand. He plays a suave character here for the first time and, at the audio launch, jokingly thanked Saran for the change of image.

Saran will also produce Muni, which will be directed by choreographer-director Lawrence and will star Raj Kiran.
