The long overdue Diganth and Jeniffer Kotwal starrer Bisile directed by debutant Sandeep Gowda hit the theatres today.
Vicky (Diganth) is a happy-go-lucky youth who is serious about only one thing in life -- his love, Anu (Jennifer). While it is love at first sight for Vicky, Anu remains unimpressed despite his repeated attempts to win her over.
Vicky however gets a good chance to woo the lady when she sets out on a trek to Bisile Ghat. In fact Vicky even helps her find the right way after she is separated from the rest of the group. But is this herogiri good enough for Anu, especially when her father has already found a suitable match for her?
The film comes after much delay and probably that's why it lacks freshness. Bisile aims at making the family audience laugh through the movie, but comedy is forced at some places and stale at others. For instance there is nothing new about the 'palat' phenomenon that the hero applies on the heroine.
Next, a character based on actor Ganesh's act in Mungaru Male leaves you exasperated rather than amused. Dwarkeesh's Colonel act where he is shown walking around in an army uniform just to live his unfulfilled dream of becoming an army man does little to tickle your funny bone either.
Also the supposed comedy track in a police station delays the plot further in the second half. However what is funny is a fight sequence inside the forest.
There are silly scenes like a group of girls trekking into deep forest thinking it's simply cool to photograph an elephant from close proximity. FM stations work even in the thick forest and the one where the heroine gives gyaan about not polluting the fresh forest air only to be leaving behind plastic bags in the forest.
But the good thing about Bisile is that it does no have unnecessary action sequences. Songs are also easy on the ears, though nothing but Ee bisilinali, tangaalili
is worth downloading to your ipods. The song has been beautifully shot and choreographed too.
Coming to the cast, Digant and Jeniffer make a good looking pair. The role offered to Diganth seems more like an extension of his lover boy image. He does a good job and proves that he can perform outside the Yograj Bhat camp as well. Jeniffer gets to do nothing but walk, smile and dance in designer wears in the first half, while she mouths a few dialogues and gets to perform a bit in the second. Actors like Jai Jagdeesh and Biradar have been wasted.
Bisile could have been a perfect family entertainer if only backed by a stronger script.
