Ten years into the Kannada industry, Ramya still remains the undisputed number one.

She is as busy today as she was ever since her debut (Abhi opposite Puneet Rajkumar) and this is what gives her little time to celebrate her 29th birthday on November 29. But the actress has little to complain about as she has varied projects in her hand.

Added to her film commitments and her role as the face of Royal Challengers, Bangalore's IPL team, are her political assignments. Ramya as a member of Youth Congress has dedicated herself to the development of her Shantinagar Constituency.

Tell her she is piling up too many things on her plate and she quips: "Where there is a will, there is way."

Even before she enrolled into active politics, the actress wrote articles in newspapers on current political and social issues. Also a regular on social networking websites, Ramya has often spoken out on raging current issues.

Most recently she was chosen as a global shaper for the year 2011. The honour is being bestowed on her by the World Economic Forum in recognition of  her achievements in the field of cinema and social work.

Be it politics or cinema, Ramya has often come out in the open and expressed her views and more often than not this has made her controversy's favourite child.

Her insistence on designer clothes, altercation with background dancers, heated exchanges with co-stars, non availability for promotions and hefty pays...  everything makes headlines.

Ramya is also not one to take allegations lying low. She was also among those who stood up for actress Nikitha following a ban on her from the Kannada film Producers' Association.

Negative publicity notwithstanding, the actress has often bagged the plumpest of projects. She has been a part of several hit films in Kannada  and Tamil and has acted with the top heroes.

This year and the last in particular have been good for the actress what with her Sanju Weds Geetha and Jhonny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam doing well at the box office. While she got noted for her performance in Sanju... and Jhonny..., she upped her glam quotient even more.

By dancing to an item number herself, she started a trend of sorts in the Kannada industry.

The actress doesn't believe in resting on past glories. She has already busied herself in the shooting of Kannada's first 3D venture Katari Veera Sura Sundarangi.

She is paired opposite Upendra in the film. "I just watched a scene that we shot with the 3D camera and I'm bowled over! I consider myself lucky to be a part of this 3D film," she says.

She also has Siddlingu and Lucky in her kitty.

The actress is currently seeing Portugese entrepreneur Raphel.

Is there anything she wishes to tell her fans ? "I just got another year older. Birthdays aren't exciting anymore! The only thing I want to do on my birthday is catch up on some good sleep. All the same it's been a good year for me and I'm indebted to all my fans for making it so. The only gift I ask from them is to spread happiness and joy around."
