Saif attacked in the wee hours
Saif was attacked in his 11th floor flat around 2:30 am on Thursday.
An intruder confronted a househelp. When Saif intervened, it escalated into a violent scuffle, resulting in him sustaining 6 stab wounds.
Surgery at Lilavati Hospital
Saif was rushed to hospital by autorickshaw.
Surgery was performed to remove a 2.5 inch-long knife lodged in his spine and repair his 'leaking spinal fluid'.
Police update
DCP Dixit Gedam said the incident was a 'robbery attempt' and the accused used a fire escape staircase to enter the house.

Police record statement of Saif's staff
The Mumbai police recorded the statement of the complainant, who looks after Jeh Ali Khan.
In her complaint, she stated the attacker demanded Rs 1 crore and attacked her with a hexa blade, which cut her hand.
The househelp said she saw a shadow at the bathroom door of Jeh's bedroom.
'He attacked Saif with a wooden object and a hexa blade... We ran out of the room, pulled the door and then we all ran towards him.'
