Actor Ajith, a bike and car racing enthusiast, is quite unlike other actors in whatever he does.

Last week, he decided to drive his motor bike from Pune to Chennai. He was shooting for Veeram in Pune and finishing work on his Diwali release Arrambam, in Mumbai.

It is well known that Ajith was a bike racer before he became an actor. He stopped racing after a bad accident kept him bed-ridden for almost a year.

He drove his BMW K 1300 S for 19 hours, with a two-hour rest in Bengaluru.

The actor says he undertook the bike trip to educate the public about road safety. He also wanted to know what the road culture of the country was like because “the traffic culture of a country defines the growth of the country,” he says.

"The 19-hour journey was like a meditation,” Ajith said of his strenuous journey that most of us would have described in very different terms.
