No child's play, this!

Acting is not child's play, so it is a wonder to see kids act.

Good child actors strike a chord in us with their performances, like Urmila Matondkar as a kid in the 1983 hit Masoom. But for every Masoom there is a Jajantaram Mamantaram. The film starring Jaaved Jaaferi and Gulshan Grover flopped due to shoddy special effects and too many songs.

Now with upcoming children's flick Chain Kulli Ki Main Kulli up for release on Friday, we take a look at 5 great children's flicks:

Masoom (1983)

Masoom (innocent) was Shekhar Kapur's directorial debut. Released in 1983, this critically acclaimed film starred then-child actors Urmila Matondkar and Jugal Hansraj, acting alongside stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Saeed Jaffrey and Supriya Pathak.

The film, based on Erich Segal's Man, Woman and Child, had screenplay and dialogues by Gulzar, and music by R D Burman.

The film went on to win four Filmfare awards for best actor (Naseeruddin Shah), Best music (RD Burman), Best lyrics (Gulzar) and Best female playback singer (Aarti Mukherji).
