A sessions court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing on trial of Shiney Ahuja in a rape case till October 16 after the actor's lawyer submitted that the Bombay High Court has stayed the framing of charges for a week.
The arguments on the framing of charges were expected to be heard by the court on Wednesday. The Bombay High Court had on Tuesday stayed the framing of charges against Ahuja until next week after the prosecution sought time to reply to the petition filed by the actor seeking forensic and medical reports.
The 36-year-old actor, holding his wife Anupam's hands throughout the trial, was spotted wearing a tilak from the Siddhivinayak temple, where he offered prayers on Wednesday morning.
Ahuja's lawyer Shrikant Shivade informed the trial court on Wednesday about the High Court order after which Judge S R Trivedi adjourned the matter till October 16.
The court will however not frame charges on that day and has exempted Ahuja from appearing before the court.
