We've heard many stories of Salman Khan's misdeeds over the years. But Monday saw the actor show off his good side when he visited 200 physically handicapped children in Bangalore.

The programme was organised by Bangalore's leading hospital Sparsh. Salman's charitable foundation, Being Human, has come forward to support Sparsh Vachana, an initiative to sponsor the cost of surgery for these children.

The star has volunteered to help the children suffering from complex orthopedic problems like duplication of toes, webbed fingers on both sides and deformed legs.

"I was surprised when Salman Khan called us and expressed his desire to participate in this programme," said Dr Sharan Patil, the chief of Sparsh Hospitals. "He had also volunteered to help us. He was cheerful and kept the children smiling throughout the long interaction he had with them. He gave a patient hearing to the affected children and even had a conversation with the children's parents."

Patil did not comment on the amount Salman donated to the hospital.

Salman reached the hospital almost four hours late but he made up for his delay by immediately reaching out to the children. He promised to attend the annual event as well.

Thirty specialist doctors from India, USA and the UK are treating these children and conducting special operations in a programme, which starts from October 19.
