The 67th Oscars are considered a disappointment, and not just because of David Letterman's laboured performance as host.
Without debate, this was a year of great travesty as Robert Zemeckis' simplistically epic Forrest Gump beat movies like Frank Darabont's stunning The Shawshank Redemption and Quentin Tarantino's cinema-reinventing Pulp Fiction -- even as Mike Newell's refreshing Brit-com Four Weddings And A Funeral and Robert Redford's tight Quiz Show stood harmlessly alongside.
And even if you don't like any of the other films, how can a year with both Pulp and Shawshank be considered anything less than a cinematic miracle?
