Cruel in-laws, violent hubby, the works form the shrieking backdrop and cause of a very raw Rani Mukerji's many agonies in the emotionally garish melodrama, Mehendi.

Although Rani's sincerity at making her troubles seem authentic is most touching, the film fails to work at every level.
