As a young man, Cheran, an idealist once dreamt of becoming a fearless police inspector who would not bow his head in front of any politician; who would follow rules, and someone who would guide people.
He also wanted to be a district collector. But the Sivaji Ganesan fan in him won, and he decided to be an actor. He thought he could help people by being an actor like MGR who became a darling of the people through his films.
