'I am the monitor of my class'

Rubina cannot speak English fluently but she can recite her poems well.

"Before Slumdog happened, I was very irregular to school," she says. "I would just play and roam with the other children. Danny uncle and Loveleen (Tandan, co-director) aunty told that if I study in an English medium school and attend regularly, it will be good for my future. So I never cut school now. I learnt some English during the shooting so that I could get admission easily. My school teachers are proud of me. They praise me for my work in Slumdog Millionaire. I am the monitor of my class," says the proud girl.

"When I grow up, I want to be like Preity Zinta," she adds. "I also want to help the poor. I want to buy things for those who don't have."
