When stars got naked!
 |
Fed up with the backlash over one of the band members' comment on former President Bush on the Iraq war, country band Dixie Chicks posed naked on the May 2 cover of Entertainment Weekly magazine. The three women -- Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines, and Emily Robison were covered with slogans such as 'Traitors,' 'Saddam's Angels,' 'Dixie Sluts,' 'Proud Americans,' 'Hero,' 'Free Speech,' and 'Brave' on their bodies.
The controversy arose during the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, when the band performed in a concert in London on March 10, 2003. During the introduction to their song Travelin' Soldier, Natalie Maines, a Texas native, said: 'Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.'
