This time Sathyan has shifted his attention from the north Kerala villages in Valluvanadu to Kuttanadu, famous for its backwaters, paddy fields and rustic charm.
Actor Narain who shot to fame with the director's Achuvinte Amma has a small but significant role in Bhagyadevatha.
The rest of the cast include Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Venu Nagavalli and Mamukkoya.
Bhagyadevatha, is being produced under the banner of Kalasangham. The cinematographer of the film is Venu and the music has been composed by Illayaraja, a regular in all of Sathyan Anthikad films.
