Do you feel it is unfair to put so much pressure on you and your film?
Very much so. It is a lot of pressure on us. We can’t take 400 prints. That is too much for a small film like Saroja. I don't want that. We had only 75 prints of Chennai 28 for the entire Tamil Nadu. We can go a maximum of 100 prints for this film, and that include the overseas ones too. If we have to send prints to all the theatres that ran Kuselan, we are in a soup. This is a small film.
Is it because of this confusion that the release date has been pushed to September 5?
Pyramid Saimira has to sort out the Kuselan problem, and they also want simultaneous release of Tamil and Telugu. The same thing had happened to Chennai 28. We had announced it for April 14, and it was released on the 27th. That was because we didn’t get theatres! We have the same theatre problem now also. But they want more theatres now!
It is a scary thought. All of us are saying, what's happening to us? God, save us. I want a long run in less number of theatres. If you have more theatres, you will not get a long run. We want a 100 day film! We want to celebrate and have fun like we did with Chennai 28. I do not want anyone to say the success of Chennai 28 was a fluke!
