Why SRK quit his Masters

Shah Rukh Khan was born on November 2, 1965, to Taj Mohammed Khan and Lateef Fatima in New Delhi.

An accomplished student of St Columba's School, he later graduated from Hansraj College with an Honours degree in economics. While studying for a Masters in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, however, he was bitten by the film bug. Less than two decades later, he was to be recognised the world over as King Khan.

In what has been a well-documented story, SRK began his career with television serials in the 1980s. His film debut came in 1992 -- a year after his marriage to college sweetheart Gauri -- with Deewana. Its success led to more roles and bigger hits that would get him an impressive 13 Filmfare Awards, 7 for Best Actor!

His list of hits now runs like a series of must-see Bollywood classics, including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Chak De India (2007). Their success overseas has also made Shah Rukh a global icon.

Considering he has moved to film production and television, we can expect a great deal more from this charming superstar in the decades to come. Carry on, SRK.
