'Tamil and Telugu are huge industries when compared to Malayalam'

Do you feel that the stint in Tamil has done a lot of good for your career?

Frankly, if I had decided to remain in Malayalam cinema when my Tamil offers came, I would have been perhaps out of the industry by now. If I had not accepted those Tamil offers, somebody else would have. The best thing in this whole episode is that I have started getting even more meaningful roles.

How different is the atmosphere in Tamil compared to Malayalam?

It's really different over there. No doubt about this one, Tamil and Telugu are huge industries when compared to Malayalam. The films give you more mileage and even when films flop, they make big news. Take Kuselan for example. The film got into national headlines, even when it failed to generate much of a sensation.

Is there pressure to be more glamorous in other languages, as it is widely perceived?

No, not at all. If I am comfortable with a particular dress, I wear it. It's more of a personal choice.
