On November 12, 1929, the actress Grace Kelly was born to a model mother and industrialist father in Philadelphia.
After studying drama and debuting on Broadway, she got her first Hollywood role. The big break came with 1952's High Noon, where she played actor Gary Cooper's wife. By the time she won an Oscar for The Country Girl, in 1954, she was a massive star.
While filming To Catch a Thief in 1955, Kelly met Prince Rainier of Monaco, whom she married a year later. After becoming Princess Grace of Monaco, she bade goodbye to acting. Tragically, she died at 52 in a car accident.
