The story of Pandurangadu may seem somewhat similar to the 1957 classic Panduranga Mahatyam (the text is attributed to Tenali Rama).
Pandurangadu is supposed to be inspired by the classic. We'll just have to wait and see how far one can call this a remake.
Directed by K Kameswara Rao, the classic featured thespian NTR in the main role, Anjali Devi, B Saroja Devi and some memorable singing by Ghantasala, particularly the song Hey Krishna Mukunda.
In the new version of the story, we see the thespian's son, Balakrishna who follows his legendary father in donning the garb.
