Present with him at Silvercity was Ajay Virmani, president, Cargojet, whom Akshay describes as a father figure.
Akshay recited a Punjabi verse from Singh is Kinng, which he has rendered in the title song of the movie.
On hand was the British-Asian group, RDB, who performed live before Akshay made his entry in suitable star style.
"I feel proud that the international team has created such a historic event for the most awaited film of the year," Hemant Bhardwaj, senior vice-president, Studio 18, said. "I hope its larger-than-life marketing will have the audience thronging to cinemas."
Singh is Kinng Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah traveled with Akshay to Toronto. "Akshay has already acquired legendary status. I can't think of a better way to start this new chapter in the history of Bollywood in the international market," Shah said.
Shah called Akshay "a superstar, a true Kinng," an artist "who has progressed faster than anyone else."
Akshay also performed on Friday night with the Bachchan family as they began their Unforgettable Tour at the Roger's Center in Toronto. Sources said he is unlikely to join the Bachchans in Vancouver, the other Canadian venue for the Unforgettable Tour.
