Plot: Judith Ralitzer, femme fatale and popular writer, is seeking characters for her next bestseller. A serial killer has just escaped from a high-security prison. Huguette, a hairdresser in a top Paris salon, is going to change their destiny. Some meetings are more fatal than others...
About the director: Claude Lelouch, one of France's most popular directors, met with his first success in 1964 with Une Fille et des Fusils (The Decadent Influence). Two years later, Un homme et une femme (A Man and a Woman) won the Palme d'or, followed by two Oscars and 42 international awards.
This triumph established his position in French cinema. His next film, Vivre Pour Vivre (Live for Life) with Annie Girardot, won the Golden Globe for the best foreign film. He directed several blockbusters in the 1980s including Les Uns et les Autres (Bolero: Dance of Life) which came out in 1981, Edith et Marcel (Edith and Marcel) in 1983, and Itineraire d'un Enfant Gate in 1988. Also, well known are his Tout ca... pour ca (All That... For This?) in 1993 and Les Miserables, which won the Golden Globe. Roman de Gare has been enormously popular with the public.
