If reports are to be believed, Sachin Tyagi has emerged winner of Sahara One's [Get Quote] reality music show, Jhoom India, which will be aired tonight. He beat Varun Badola.

A trained singer, Sachin has starred in television shows like Family Business, Tumari Disha, Saarthi, Saara Akaash, Soolah Singaar and Kajaal. He has also released a music album in 2003, before he made his acting debut. Now, he is all set to launch to his second album.

When we spoke to Sachin, he did not want to talk about his win, but instead, chose to talk about his experiences on the show. Over to him:

When you entered Jhoom India, did you ever think you would reach the finals?

Certainly. I wasn't surprised at all, probably because I believed in myself and Madhuji (Madhushree, his partner in the show). Thanks to all the viewers who supported us through out.

Whom would you give credit for your reaching the finals?

I want to thank a lot of people for that. Firstly, I want to thank my daughters -- one is six and the other is four. For three months, I would leave home early in the morning and return at night, when they are sleeping. They never complained and were happy that I was doing this show. They are the ones who missed me a lot.

My mentor Madhushree has been an inspiration to everyone. She would always appreciate when someone performed well. She is such a good human being, and so sincere in her comments. I am happy that I worked with her.

The judges (Mahesh Bhatt [Images], Shabana Azmi [Images] and Anandji of Kalyanji-Anandji) appreciated your singing as well.

I did not do anything extra to please them. They liked my performance and that is why they gave good points and appreciated my singing.

Tell us about your experience in the show.

It was a humbling experience. It is a huge platform for any singer. These kinds of reality shows teach you a lot; they make you wiser. I have grown as a human being, become more mature. I got a lot of surprises, both pleasant and unpleasant. Now I have stopped judging people by the way they look. Everything was a learning experience.

Madhushree and Sachin TyagiWho was the your favourite judge?

Shabanaji always said that I looked calm and relaxed. We used to always get unique comments from Anandji. But the most eagerly awaited comments were from Bhattji. We would learn a lot from both his criticism and compliments.

Your favourite performance?

In the second round, when I sang Bunty Aur Babli [Images], the semi-finals when I sang Aaja Sanam and the finals, where I sang a song from a Raj Kapoor film.

Memorable moment on Jhoom India?

It sounds silly if I name this as my memorable moment but it my elimination round. I didn't have any admirers. I was absolutely on my own.

But you re-entered through the wild card entry.

It was not a wild card entry. It was a round where all the eliminated participants were asked to sing again. Out of these, two were selected: Mrinal Kulkarni and me.

What did you think about your final competitor, Varun Badola?

He is a good performer and focussed singer. When he started, he was not a great singer. But look how he improved after two-three rounds! It was really amazing.

Tell us about yourself.

I am from Meerut. I came to Mumbai 14 years ago. I was into buying and selling cars. Singing was my passion, so I would write and compose songs. When my friends heard me sing, they told me do cut an album. I launched my first album in 2003. It was not a big hit, but it did fairly well.

Then, a friend asked me to audition for a serial called Family Business. I was selected and made my acting debut in 2004. When I was doing that serial, the director told me not to act but be myself because they felt that I when I acted I looked bad. I don't have any training in acting. After that, singing took a back seat.

But I plan to release my second album very soon. I am being trained in classical singing for a year.

Any movie plans?

I cannot think of acting in movies. But someday, I would like to direct and produce films.
