My siblings and I went to the best schools and colleges. We were allowed to do anything we wanted. We would have cultural meets in our house and singing or instrument playing or poetry recitals. He loved good food so there was a lot of khaana-peena.
Bimal Roy was very soft-spoken and gentle at home. Yet, everyone was scared of him, maybe because he spoke less. We would have a lot of fun with him. But at the same time, he was a no-nonsense man. So when he was around, everyone was on their best behaviour. But I wasn't scared of him.
After my father's death (on January 7, 1966), none of my siblings have done anything to revive his name though we are living in our father's glory. I got this house because of my father, so I thought it was my duty to do something in his name. That's why I started the Bimal Roy Memorial 15 years ago.
