The Kannada film industry is undergoing a big transformation in terms of presentation of films. Starting with Nenapirali released in 2005, there have been many films which have set new trends like Mungaru Male and Duniya.

More than the story content, it was the presentation and improved technical elements that are responsible for the success of these films.

The latest to join the bandwagon is Yuga Yugagale Saagali directed by Shashank Raj.

Yuga Yugagale Saagali starts off with a romantic interlude between collegians Shashi and Megha who want to get married. Sensing trouble from her family members, Megha advises her lover to elope with her. But Shashi says he will convince her family members. Meanwhile, Shashi's parents and uncle are happy with his decision to marry and accompany him to Megha's house for cementing the relationship.

What happens next makes up the rest of the film.

While the story has nothing new to offer, the film scores because of the picturisation of songs, which are pretty good and tight screenplay in the second half. Most notable of Hamsalekha's music compositions are the background score, and the title track Maamu.

Nageshwara Rao's fantastic camera work is another highlight of the film.

Performance-wise, newcomers Yashas and Megha have done a good job. Anant Nag makes an impact despite a limited role. Sharath Lohithashwa, Vasanth Kumar, Sangeetha and Rangayana Raghu have all done well in their respective roles.

The only negative point in this otherwise okay flick is the slow first half.
