It doesn't matter if the inspiration comes from Sinbad or Rumpelstiltskin, you know you don't have to rely on any other judgement when a song turns on the gooseflesh and sets that head on a banging spree.
And this rocking track by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (the trio made up for a quiet 2008 with this smashing first-of-its-kind album) from this year's easily best film does just that. It's energetic. It's driven. Cut the crap, it's mind-blowing.
Taking a break from sweet-sounding lyricism, Javed Akhtar goes for the kill manifesting in the roaring fortitude and ready-to-take-on-the-world optimism of Sinbad, which wraps up with Raman Mahadevan's heartfelt Tum ho toh. And though Farhan Akhtar is no singer, his guitar-slung verve makes us believe you don't need to have Chris Martin's vocal skills to be a rock star. And so Rock On, mate!
