Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver, 1979's Alien tells the story of a vicious extraterrestrial attack during a space exploratory mission gone wrong.
Of all the film's most gruesome scenes, none outdo the terrifyingly horrible images of Alien spawns bursting out of the chest of one of the astronauts and subsequently attack the crew.
Then, in 1986, came Aliens. And if the first instalment was a sci-fi/horror benchmark, the second set one for shoot-em-ups and action-adventure.
Never can we forget the uber-evil Alien queen and her little egglings.
