Arnab, who hails from Kolkata, came to Mumbai nine years ago for a two-year course in music. After finishing the course, he started looking for assignments. After a dry spell, he got work with Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy in Yeh Kya Ho Raha. He has also sung Vada raha pyar from the film Khakee.

Father to a year-old daughter, Arnab has also cut an solo album for Times Music.

Though initially reluctant to join the reality show, Arnab was convinced to pay his tribute to Kishore Kumar by his father.

The company has taken care of his family expenses, he says. In fact, all the participants of the show have been paid an undisclosed amount for the time that they're in the show.
