Tamil film set for Hollywood premiere

Success followed him in Tamil, and he was acclaimed as one of the highly talented filmmakers.

Some of the interesting films he made in the eighties were Alaikal Oyvathillai that introduced Radha and Karthik, Muthal Maryadai which had Sivaji Ganesan as a middle aged man romancing a young Radha, and Mann Vasanai which introduced Revathi in Tamil.

In 1995, he won his first national award for Karuthamma when it was chosen as the best Tamil film. Karuthamma also won the best lyricist award for Vairamuthu and best female playback singer award for Swarnalatha at the national level. The music composer of the film was A R Rahman.
