'Nobody really gives me good scripts'

Would you be ready to direct a story you haven't written? Do you enjoy writing your own movies?

Yes, I wouldn't mind directing a story that I haven't written if it excited me but nobody really gives me good scripts. I hate writing movies and am not a natural writer. While writing a movie I like adding humour and the madness. I would love to direct a completed script like it happens in Hollywood. Somehow, we have a shortage of writers here.

Is it true that you plan to stop choreographing for all movies except yours?

I have already stopped choreographing for other movies. I can't be bothered about it anymore. In my movies I can have different situations -- I can make Deepika dance with Sunil Dutt if I want to. But other movies have the same kind of situations like a marriage sequence or an item number that is not exciting enough for me now.

How and why did decide to cast a newcomer like Deepika as your heroine?

I wanted a new face and Deepika looked the part -- a beautiful, classic Indian beauty. She fitted the role of a 70s superstar. I thought it would be fresh and exciting to cast a newcomer against SRK because the whole energy and chemistry changes.

Why did you decide to switch to Vishal Shekhar from Anu Malik (who was the music director for Main Hun Na) for OSO's music?

A director has the prerogative to work with new people in a film if they feel it will give a new energy to the film. I wanted to first work with AR Rahman I though he would do a great job with the background score, but that didn't happen. After that I chose Vishal Shekhar because it is good to work with newer younger people gives you a fresh perspective.
