Well a typical masala movie that is filmy and has song and dance...
Most Bollywood films are like that. All have songs. Main Hoon Na was hardly a filmi film. It was a cool modern film, which had something to say, which was very entertaining and was a huge commercially successful so I don't know why does one look down upon it?
I don't mean to look down upon Main Hoon Na at all. It's just that MHN seemed like such a Manmohan Desai kind of movie...
OSO is not like a Manmohan Desai movie. It has a dramatic storyline and it is big and entertaining. Manmohan Desai stories were illogical although they were highly entertaining and hugely successful.
The idea is not to make a Manmohan Desai movie. In fact Manmohan Desai is not even one of my favorite directors. I enjoy watching all his movies but I don't look up to him as a filmmaker or feel that I want to make films like him.
My favourite directors are Vijay Anand or a Guru Dutt or a Nasir Hussain or the kind of directors who made good movies that were also technically advanced films, entertaining and had great songs. So OSO is not deliberately made to be like a Manmohan Desai film.
