If you think Vijay's new film Yuga is as good as his previous blockbuster Duniya, you are mistaken. One feels sorry for Vijay who made such a hue and cry that his next film Chanda be released only fifty days after Yuga's release.
Yuga is a shabbily made film without any proper plot and whatever you see on screen is lifted from other non-Kannada films. The film falls flat from the very first scene. It drags and finally it ends without any proper climax.
Director Chandru has worked as an assistant in Duniya but it appears he did not learn anything from the experience. The film looks more like a documentary made to showcase the lead actor's prowess in the fight sequences as you see only fights, somersaults, gymnastics and rope assisted jumps!
The story revolves around a street rowdy Yuga who works as a henchman for a small time don called Srikantu. Yuga's best friend Thambi is then killed by a big don called Mangalore Pai. Yuga kills Mangalore Pai and in the process becomes the most wanted criminal. Pai's son wants to avenge the death of his father and his goons start searching for Yuga. An injured Yuga escapes to a doctor's house in a village in Sakleshpur. There he falls for a terminally ill patient. In the end, he also gets killed in very tragic circumstances.
Vijay who was so good in Duniya is good only in the action sequences. Television anchor Kavya who is introduced in this film is just average.
Music by Arjun is ordinary, and even the song picturisation does not provide any relief to the monotony. The editing work is awful.
Yuga will disappoint even the ardent fans of Vijay.
