Forget Rajni, this Bharatiraja movie revolutionised Tamil cinema.

Cameras that had earlier panned within the confines of studios cut free in the fields and greenery of the villages, absorbing the viewers in to the rustic world of the small towns and villages. Rajni played the village rogue Parattai. And Parattai had the whole of Tamil Nadu spellbound with his teasing line, 'ithu eppadi irukku?' (how is it?)

Kamal had lived the character of beetlenut-chewing, limping, Sappani in this movie. But when the audiences stepped out, it was ithu eppadi irukku that echoed as the hall emptied. This was also the movie that made people realise the kind of reach Rajni had among the audiences.
