There was a time when filmmakers did not look beyond Mumbai to shoot their films.
So, we had Amitabh Bachchan singing Yeh hai Bambai nagariya in Don.
More recently, Bluffmaster made Mumbai a character, as Abhishek Bachchan drove around the famous Marine Drive, among other places.
Shah Rukh Khan wooed Rani Mukerji near the financial capital of India's Bandra Kurla Complex in Chalte Chalte.
But now, filmmakers seem to be shifting focus up north. It seems the capital of India has caught Bollywood's fancy.
Director Onir (My Brother... Nikhil, Bas Ek Pal) said in a recent interview that Mumbai has been 'overexposed.' The director will shoot his new film Chashme Baddoor in New Delhi.
And he is not the only one.
So, we felt it was time to take a look at the recent movies with a loud Delhi flavour.
Ahista Ahista
This 2006 movie was shot extensively around Chandni Chowk. Abhay Deol's home in the movie was near the historic Jama Masjid.
In fact, if anyone wants to know what Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra's Dilli-6 will be all about, one should simply watch Ahista Ahista. The language in Ahista Ahista is that which is spoken in Delhi 6, the underbelly of the city.
The narrow lanes of Delhi 6, the hub of Connaught Place and the India Gate were picturised brilliantly in this love story, also starring Soha Ali Khan.
