Ajay Devgan as Vanraj in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Vanraj is stuff sacrifices are made of. Being fully aware that his wife (Aishwarya Rai) loves another man (Salman Khan), he doesn't get upset with her. What's more he takes her all the way to Italy so that she can be with her love.
During the course of this entire journey, he is patient with her, while maintaining his own dignity. He is protective and considerate towards her distress. Despite being painfully shy, he offers her friendship and company. When she gets injured, he sells off his wedding ring to meet the hospital expenses.
By the end of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnificently told story, both the audience and Ash, have fallen in love with Vanraj.
This is one of Ajay Devgan's best performances. His delicately nuanced act coupled with subtle vulnerability and quiet intensity is a treat to watch.
