The man behind Mammootty's Mayavi

What do you think worked for the film?

I think it was the screenplay by Rafi-Mecartin. A well-written script can make things easy for the director. We started shooting for the film with a completed script and it helped the whole proceedings to a great extent.

Mammootty has proven that he has the knack to tickle the funny bone. What is special about his humour in Mayavi?

The subtle humour of the character is the film's highlight. I feel that situational comedy appeals more with the audience while narrating certain themes like this one. Let us not forget that Mammootty has a flair for comedy and this is evident from films like Oru Maravathoor Kanavu and Kottayam Kunjachan. In Mayavi, we have used humour to narrate a genuine story.
