Then came the bombs. 1996's Barb Wire (above), her first attempt at the big-screen -- a leather and motorcycles reworking of Casablanca -- was a commercial and critical failure. In 1998, she tried jumpstarting a skimpier version of Charlie's Angels with a series called VIP, but this too failed to win her many viewers. The magazine covers chugged on dutifully.
