If you're looking for finesse and a strong storyline, then Telugu film, Dubai Seenu, is not for you. Directed by Srinu Vaitla, the film takes the path of hardcore entertainment and plays it up to the gallery.
Seenu (Ravi Teja [Images]) is a jobless youngster, who wants to make it big in Dubai. He, along with his four cronies, approach Ramakrishna (Brahmanandam), who promises them a dream destination for Rs 75,000.
They land in Mumbai and predictably fall prey to a cheater, Nagalingam (Venu Madhav) posing as a travel agent who disappears with the money. Unable to return home, they decide to go job hunting in Mumbai.
They then chance upon another crook Patnaik (Krishna Bhagwan) who pretends to sympathise with them. He loans them money to set up a pav baji stall. However, he takes their entire earnings leaving them with a pittance.
Meanwhile, Seenu comes across Madhu (Nayantara [Images]) and instantly falls in love. He tries to pose as a software engineer and takes care of her while in Mumbai. She returns to Hyderabad and our hero follows suit.
Now Madhu, who works as a radio jockey (RJ) has her own set of problems. She has an ageing uncle Bobjee (Sayaji Shinde [Images]) and a crooked police officer who wants to marry her.
The second half drags, and has too many songs.
For Srinu Vaitla, comedy is the current mantra for success. His previous film Dhee was a big hit solely because of its comedy. He repeats it in this latest offering in the form of Sayaji, Ravi Teja and Raghubabu. The comedy scenes are quite hilarious, though the ones between Sunil and Dharmavarapu are vulgar.
The Mumbai scenes involve several comedians like Brahmanandam, Krishanbhagvan, Venu Madhav and the four cronies of Ravi Teja. However, the comedy between MS Narayana and AVS is quite boring.
As for the performances, Ravi Teja looks the role, complete with unkempt beard, funny haircut and loud attire. In comparison, Nayantara is svelte and sexy. And she can act too.
Go for it.
