The most outrageous get-ups in Bollywood

There's something iconic about onscreen get-ups.

Whether it is Raj Kapoor's ode to Charlie Chaplin in Shree 420 and Awaara or Saif Ali Khan's earthy metamorphosis in Omkara, these are striking images that leave a lasting impression on the viewer's mind.

Traditionally though, it's always the villain who dabbles most in this department. Remember Amrish Puri's Mogambo or Gulshan Grover's Bad Man?

Then there are times when an actor grossly miscalculates a look and ends up being the butt of all jokes.

Currently, Amitabh Bachchan's ostentatious number in Shaad Ali's soon-to-be-released, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom screams for attention. White shirt and faded blue jeans topped by a multi-hued patchwork jacket complete with long black boots, black hat with a ruffled feather or two, rings, bangles, beads, stones, chains, earrings, kohl, long hair... did they leave anything out? A nose-ring, maybe?

Outrageous avatars aren't new for the Big B. Luckily for him, the Shahenshah look was a huge success though his super-hero attire in Ajooba and Toofan was a disaster.

Now, rediff.com catalogued some of the most outrageous get-ups through the years. Take a look.
