Though some had a problem seeing Ajay Devgan play student, in this stylishly shot flick, the Ph D status of his character averted further disapproval.
Performances by Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor and Esha Deol met with accolades for their inspiring act.
But it was Abhishek Bachchan's nasty man of the street that won maximum cheers and award trophies. No wonder Ratnam picked him to play the titular role in the currently playing Guru.
