Multistarrers: Treat to your eyes

We love our stars. We love their films.

And when you have a whole bunch thrown in together, it's one package deal you cannot resist.

Who knows this better than director Nikhil Advani? His follow up to Kal Ho Naa Ho is the story; make it stories, of love and the pleasure and problems that accompany this universal feeling.

With an elaborate cast of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Govinda, John Abraham, Akshaye Khan, Sohail Khan, Juhi Chawla, Priyanka Chopra, Shannon Esra, Vidya Balan and Isha Koppikar, Salaam-E-Ishq is quite an extravagant affair.

rediff.com takes a look at multistarrers of now and then.

Dil Chahta Hai

Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with 2001's most urban albeit endearing film. And among a whole lot of other things, what made this coming-of-age caper special was its cast.

For starters, he roped in the famously elusive Aamir Khan and followed it up by signing a subtle Akshaye Khanna and spontaneous Saif Ali Khan. An exquisite line up of leading ladies featured a mix of classic (Dimple Kapadia), cute (Preity Zinta) and charming (Sonali Kulkarni).

DCH warranted the presence of its stars with its amazingly fleshed out characters. Akhtar's zingy take on youth, friendship and matters of the heart was well favoured by critics and city audiences' alike and revolutionised hair fashion.
