'Every musician should learn classical music'

Moop: The sound quality of your album is really great. How do you achieve that?

Jagjit: Yes, soundhas to be of a very good quality. First we used to record in a single track. Then 4 tracks, stereo and then came multi-track. After that digital recording was ntroduced. I used digital sound for my album, Beyond Time.

It was recorded at a studio in London, Jacob Studio. It was a residential studio where there were nine bedrooms, kitchen, billiard room, swimming pool and a very well equipped studio. I completed the album in 21, days and also used a bass guitarist for the music. After that I always tried to maintain that quality in my album. Sajda is very close to it but Beyond Time is really different.

Roop: Any advise for the young musicians?

Jagjit: I'd like to tell them that they should be committed to their work, and nothing can be achieved half-heartedly. I have seen a trend that as soon as a singer clicks, he brings out his album or a video irrespective of the fact whether he has learnt music or not.

They don't even practice music and are more attracted to the glamour of the music world. I feel there should be a censor board to keep a check on releasing these videos and albums. Every musician should first learn classical music and voice training, because these are the grammar of music.
