Television has undoubtedly become a big part of our lives. We love to laugh and cry with our soap stars, or hope and pray that our favourite contestant wins in reality shows.
To make a list of the 10 most popular shows on telly is quite a task -- 10 is too small a number. So here's taking a look at the best of television this year.
Reality shows
Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Indian Idol and Star Voice of India gained even more popularity than previous years. In fact, they were such a hit that big Bollywood releases used the platform to promote the films.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa was popular because it had participants from different parts of the country, as well as abroad, and showcased real talent. The participants were trained by their respective mentors -- Himesh Reshammiya, Ismail Darbar, Vishal-Shekhar and Bappi Lahiri.
The show was also spiced up with regular fights among the mentors.
The third season of Indian Idol seemed to unite the country, and bring the North-East into focus. Winner Prashant Tamang hailed from Darjeeling while Amit Paul hailed from Shillong.
Star Voice of India showcased quality singers and was judged by Jatin- Latin, Aadesh Shrivastav, Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet.
