How challenging was it for a cinematographer to create stillness, and also make the audience feel there was something happening?
A lot of that has to come from acting and the dialogues because the camera is still. My challenge as a cinematographer was to frame the shot well so that it could hold the attention of the audience for long.
You had shot two action films earlier, the Dhoom series. Billa is also action film. How different were these films?
Action films are all the same. Yes, there was not much action in Billa like in Dhoom 2. I must say there is not much fun shooting action films. Once you have done something, you know the basic stuff. So, for me, it is a kind of boring now to shoot action films.
How was it shooting and watching two good looking actors- Hrithik Roshan and Ajith- from behind the camera?
Both of them are great to work with and extremely committed actors.
You get two different experiences when you watch them behind the camera -- Hrithik Roshan is a very young person while Ajith is a much more mature person. Ajith's character is much more strong and I think his age helped him give that look and strength to the character.
It was fun shooting them.
