What was the look you planned for the new Billa then?
The audience we are looking at is the one who have not seen Rajnikanth's Billa. They are the younger generation and it is them we are targeting. So we decided to make a film that they would enjoy.
The films that they are exposed to today are English films and some well-made Hindi ones. So, if we were to remake Billa, it had to be on that level or even better. So, we decided on a very international and minimalist look.
When I spoke to Vishnu Vardhan, he said, the film has predominantly two colours -- black and white.
Yes, the costumes are predominantly black and white.
The only exception is the costumes for Velu, (Ajith's other character). Again, the colours are very subtle.
