Tarun Majumdar's Balika Badhu is based on child marriage. Sachin and Rajni Sharma get married at a young age, stay together for a short while and then Rajni goes back home to her mother's house while he continues his studies.

While staying together, Rajni does not understand the importance of marriage, or of Sachin in her life. But when they part, realises what she has lost.

Both actors were in their teens when the film was shot, and suit the role perfectly.
