'Maya Bazaar is not a love story'

On Maya Bazaar

I took my time to decide on whether I wanted to do Maya Bazaar. I was skeptical initially as I had not done such a role in Telugu films before. But producer Satyanarayana Garu (who had earlier produced Missamma which fetched Bhumika acclaim) convinced me about the project. When I read the script a couple of times, I started seeing myself in the character.

I play Anupama, a sweet, simple girl full of life. She helps people a lot. The film is not a love story per se -- it's a fun film.

Working with director Indraganti Mohan Krishna and actor S P Balasubrahmanyam was great. Balasubrahmanyam is a legendary singer and it was a treat for us to hear him sing on the sets. He would say these one-liners with a straight face, and we would just crack up. My costar Raja is a down-to-earth guy so, it was fun working with him.
