According to the producer and director, Honeymoon Express is supposed to be a comedy. But this insipid Kannada film fails to tickle your funny bone. Perhaps director Nagendra Magadi thinks selecting a team of talented artists is enough to make a good comedy.

Magadi's banking on his lead artists like Jaggesh [Images] and S Narayan -- known for their perfect comic timing -- has paid off somewhat. But without a good script, the film falls flat. And Magadi has received little support from his dialogue writer Ram Narayan.

The first half of the movie is tolerable, thanks to Jaggesh and Narayan. But the second half is one big bore, and the climax sequences -- which we have seen in umpteen number of films -- really test your patience.

The film is further handicapped by the fact that the two heroines do not understand Kannada. Their blank reactions to many of the spontaneous dialogues and expressions of the lead artists add to the film's woes.

There are many sequences which remind you of the Tamil film Charlie Chaplin which was remade into Telugu as Pellam Oorilithe and into Hindi as No Entry [Images]

Technically, the film is average. R P Patnayak, who has been consistently providing good music these days, has composed just one good song for the film.

Honeymoon Express is a wasted effort because of a weak script and haphazard narration.
